The new EcoBoost engine will also be turning up in the Ford Fusion for North America, but the UK and Europe are going to have to wait until at least the end of 2014 – when we get the new Mondeo - before the new engine is on offer. The 1.5 litre EcoBoost offers improved economy and emissions compared to the 1.6 litre currently available - with similar power, performance and torque compared – but one of the main reasons for offering it is that many countries offer tax breaks for engines under 1.5 litres. The new engine will be built by Ford In Romania initially (although it will get churned out elsewhere too in due course) and offers turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing.
VAUXHALL is to resurrect the Viva name as it plans to launch an entry-level car to sit alongside its Mini rival the Adam and soon to be launched new Corsa supermini. For now the car maker isn’t giving much away, although it has revealed that the new car will be a five-door model. Mercedes-Benz has revealed a concept of what it bills as the “ultimate golf cart” as part of activities at this year's British Open at the Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland. The concept was created at Mercedes-Benz's advanced design studio in California using ideas submitted by golf fans in a competition held by the German car maker. The swoopy two-seater adopts a number of design cues from current Mercedes-Benz models along with a doorless, one-box profile to give it a contemporary appearance that transcends traditional golf cart design.
